MacKay Centre Breaks Ground on New Facility

The 2016 MacKay Centre Groundbreaking

The ceremonial groundbreaking for the new Mackay Centre took place on Wednesday, November 2, 2016. Mike Reid Foundation Chairman, Wade Wilson was invited to participate in the ceremony.

The new school will be located in an area near the corner of Terrebonne and Madison in NDG. Construction is set to begin in early January and the school expected to open in time for the 2018-19 school year.

The English Montreal School Board studied the possibility of renovating the current school on Decarie Boulevard, but determined the 50-year-old building was too small to meet the needs of 200 students.

During the ceremony, School Principal Patrizia Ciccarelli was openly excited about the new facility which will include modern rooms for nursing, sensory stimulation, and a larger pool.
